My Response to "The Last Stop"

Brian Cable's Essay, "The Last Stop," is an observation essay about his visit to the mortuary. This essay combines both seriousness and humor to create an essay about a morbid topic interesting and fun to read. Cable describes the mortuary from the time he walked up its stone steps to when he walked out of its doors. Cable uses descriptive details to give a picture perfect image of what the mortuary is like. He talks about its "old pink structure" and its massive door," as well as other objects. I almost felt like I was witnessing Cable's guide through the funeral home. He also uses interviews to give different perspectives of the mortuary.
Cable's essay describe the mortuary perfectly. His goal of this essay seemed to be to eliminate or at least lessen people's stereotypes about mortuaries and their owners. He was successful at that task by adding humor and facts to his essay. No longer do i view funeral homes as smelly places with dead bodies and ghosts everywhere. I understand that it is a pleasant place where people are peacefully put to rest.
I hope that I can use some of Cable's technique to make my essay better. I want to be able to convince my audience, just as Cable did, about something that they feel otherwise about.
